The Wairakei steamfield is located about 8km NE of Taupo and covers an area of approximately 15 square kilometres.
McMahon Involvement
Project Scope – Ohaaki Steamfield (Wells BR66 and BR67)
McMahon provided the engineering design expertise to assist Contact Energy with the control system integration of Well’s BR66 and BR67 into the Separation Plant 1 DCS (ABB 800xA). McMahon were engaged to design, specify, tender and administer the delivery of the projects.
Project Scope – Te Mihi Steamfield
McMahon were engaged by MBCentury Resources to provide electrical engineering services for new steam and fluid reinjection plants, production wells, flash plants, power station steam reception and dump systems.
In addition to this McMahon were responsible for the migration of the existing steamfield control system from Abbey RTU’s to the new ABB 800xA control system as used at the Te Mihi Power Station.
