Contact Energy Natures Flame Project

Contact Energy supply up to 22MW of energy to Natures Flame Ltd from a heat transfer plant located adjacent to the Tenon timber processing plant in Taupo. The Contact Energy Natures Flame Heat Plant (NFHP) is remotely controlled and monitored by Contact Energy Geothermal Group Control with local monitoring and limited control provided via ABB Process Panels located on the Natures Flame Heat Plant site. The interface between Contact Energy control system and Natures Flame plant control system is via controls over a fibre optic cable between the two sites. Overall safety protection is provided for the NFHP by Safety Instrumented System (SIS) with safety trip relays located at the NFHP and Natures Flame Site to shut down the heat plant.
