The Contact Energy Wairakei Binary Plant Safety Case Project involved the migration of existing Allen Bradley PLCs and logic to ABB 800xA control system and the installation of an ABB 800xA high integrity safety system controller for all plant safety systems monitoring and shutdowns of the Ormat plant. The new SIL rated safety system included plant flame and gas monitoring, plant safety instrumentation, shutdown systems and the like.
