Z Energy Mt Maunganui South Terminal

Due to aged plant with diminishing technical support and availability of spare parts, Z Energy made the decision to replace the following automation and truck loadout systems at their Mt Maunganui South storage and distribution terminal:

• Terminal automation system (TAS)
• PLC
• SCADA
• UPS
• Truck loading control system
• Truck overfill protection system
• Site access system
• Additive injection system
• Truck loading meter trains

A new DKI OmegaTas terminal automation system was installed which was linked to new DKI Flexlinc bay load controllers.  The aging PLC and SCADA were replaced with a Rockwell CompactLogix platform and iFix SCADA.  A new fibre-optic network was installed for the automation communications.

As part of the upgrade, the truck loading meter trains were rebuilt with new temperature transmitters, digital flow control valves, illegal product valves, turbine meters, and FMC Accuplus additive injectors.
