Weno is the largest Island in the Chuuk Atoll within the Federated States of Micronesia. The atoll’s location in the Pacific Ocean provided a strategic naval base for the Japanese fleet during WW2 until it was destroyed by the US Navy.
As a result the Chuuk lagoon is considered one of the premier wreck diving locations in the world.
During this project McMahon were appointed Engineer to the Contract (FIDIC Yellow Book) to facilitate a complete power station upgrade inclusive of all generation, switchgear, BoP, and control system assets.
McMahon were appointed following the withdrawal of the original consultant and oversaw the negotiation and appointment of the Contractor, and the design, construct and commissioning process.
