Middlemore Hospital – Substation

As part of the Middlemore Hospital Core Infrastructure Upgrade Project, McMahon was engaged to conduct site investigations and meet with key Te Whatu Ora stakeholders to determine the principal requirements for a new substation at the Middlemore Hospital site.

The new substation is intended to replace an existing substation that is marked for demolition due to being at the end of its life and nearing capacity. It will also be critical in supporting other planned expansion and upgrade works at Middlemore Hospital, ensuring continuity of power across the entire facility.

The new substation will include:

  • An HV room with HV switchgear
  • An LV room with an LV switchboard and LV auxiliary panels
  • Two transformer rooms, each housing a 1 MVA transformer

McMahon has successfully completed the concept design phase and has been requested to submit a proposal to complete the preliminary design through to construction completion for this project.
